ABOUT US

Ray Cockerton cut his musical teeth 65 years ago in an Hawaiian band playing ukulele. He moved on to play guitar and joined various bands with different styles. He toured with the Royal Shakespeare Company as guitarist in the orchestra, to Japan and Australia then moved on for several years as the “Ray Adam’s Soundtrack” as a solo artist, singing and playing guitar with his own backing tracks. His musical “fastenyourseatbelts.biz”, was performed in Eymet in 2011 and Ray is working to promote it to a wider audience in London. Throughout his musical career Ray has had a “sound” in his head which has been achieved with his new band “Rhythm A La Carte”.

Rob Russell has been a professional musician for 50 years. He did his first gig when he was 12 years old! He has played in many bands, notably White Plains (“When You Are A King", My Baby Loves Lovin’ ", Whirlwind and his own band The Del Monties ('Classics EP' available on iTunes etc’). He has toured Europe and made an appearance on the Paris TV show “Chorus”. He also appeared on "Top Pops” in Holland. He plays piano, guitar and double bass. Rob’s particular talent is “slap bass” which is what Ray was looking for in this “sound”. Rob is a great bass player.

Fred Olthoff is Dutch and since 2008 has been living in France. He runs a B&B/ Glamping business here with his wife. He has many hobbies including painting and playing music. He started playing the sax but now he concentrates on his passion of playing rhythm percussion with congas and bongos. What he does musically, he really enjoys. He joined “Rhythm A La Carte” because he likes their music and their ambitions to move on to Latin, Brazilian and Cuban which is his favourite type of music. Fred is very pleased to be playing with Ray and Rob as they have great fun when they rehearse together.

As you’ve probably guessed by now we are all getting on a bit! But, like fine wine we have matured with age and we refuse to be banished to our garden sheds in our retirement and fade away! So, we are all putting our musical experience to great use with Rhythm A Carte and are zestfully applying ourselves to what I think will be a successful future.
